An integral part of our cultural practices is cover cropping during crop rotation years. While allowing the soil to rest from commercial production, we plant a variety of species, each contributing a key benefit to our soil. Throughout the season, these workhorses replenish organic matter and build elements which allow us to reduce the use of organic fertilizers. Not only does this get us back to the true nature of farming, it replenishes the soil with carbon. We’ve partnered with some of the biggest names in agriculture to pilot a program to reduce carbon in the atmosphere. Since WWII farmers have gone away from natural farming in an attempt to boost yields through the use of chemical fertilizers. Modern science has made fertilizer affordable to farmers while boosting yields; with one drawback, over time, soil becomes depleted and sterile, resulting in an ever increasing demand for outside inputs. With our aggressive cover cropping regiment we are proud to offer you wholesome rhizomes from the north shore of Kauai!
